Actual app. Intentional bugs. Your investigation.
01 / OPEN THE BOX
One complete practice loop: understand the requirements, test the app, document what you find, then review your approach.
A fictional store with real testing questions. Explore products, cart quantities, search, filters, delivery charges and discount rules.
34 pages of tasks, requirements and review criteria. Twelve exercises, also supplied individually.
40 pages of worked solutions and reasoning. Attempt the task first; compare your approach afterwards.
Test cases, bug reports, exploratory sessions, decision tables and more. Edit, save a copy, make it yours.
A SIMPLE WAY TO START
No setup rabbit hole.
No coding required.
Extract the ZIP on your computer and open START-HERE.html in your browser. Launch the shop from there.
Read the requirements, build test cases, try unexpected inputs and record what actually happens.
Use the separate solutions to review your coverage and reasoning. There's more than one useful way to test.
02 / YOUR PRACTICE PLAN
From the first boundary check to combinations of business rules. Open a topic to see what you'll practise.
01—04 BUILD YOUR FOUNDATIONS
Choose boundary values, compare expected and actual delivery costs, and document a reproducible mismatch.
Check the six products against reference data. Compare product IDs, names and unit prices in the cart.
Test repeated additions, different products and cart states using clear input groups and repeatable cases.
Explore valid and invalid input, the quantity limits, and differences between typing, buttons and repeated Add actions.
05—08 FOLLOW THE DETAILS
Compare cart quantities with the item badge and line totals. Separate counting problems from money calculations.
Calculate expected amounts independently, then check unit prices, subtotals and totals using exact cents.
Remove products from different cart states. Check remaining rows, recalculated delivery and the empty cart.
Build repeatable starting conditions and check that reset and reload clear the expected state.
09—12 CONNECT THE DOTS
Use a testing charter, follow observations, separate hypotheses from facts, and write a concise debrief.
Review keyboard navigation, visible focus and desktop layouts. Record scope and limits without claiming a full accessibility audit.
Test literal searches, categories, no-result states and filter interactions with products already in the cart.
Use decision tables to check SAVE10, rounding, coupon state changes and delivery before discount.
Not every exercise hides a new bug. Learning to verify correct behaviour matters, too.
03 / GIVE IT A GO
FREE MINI EXERCISE · ABOUT 2 MINUTESThe shop promises free delivery on orders of $50.00 or more. Below that, delivery is $4.99.
For each nonempty cart, choose the delivery charge you expect. No coupon is applied.
A shortened example of Exercise 01. The full kit takes you from designing these checks to running them in the app and documenting your findings.
